December workshop: ‘Who am I?’
Helping children explore their sense of identity and their relationship to the world through the drawing and painting of Mandalas. Open to children from 7-13 years of age.
Creativity is the ability that we all have within us to respond to life with originality, authenticity, inventiveness and spontaneity and to express that response in an engaged and practical manner.
Rather than doing something because it is the way that we have been told, or because it is acceptable or normal in society, our creativity encourages us to explore the world with fresh eyes, seeing opportunities for growth, change and transformation where others may see nothing.
These workshops are a chance for kids to stimulate the growth of their creative potential by learning how to create their own personal mandala images.
What is a Mandala?
A mandala is a circular form or structure that represents wholeness and integration. In traditional world cultures and spiritualities it is used as a way of representing a world or universe. In nature we can find many natural forms of ‘mandala’ where an organic form is created around a central point. Examples of this are flowers, shells, fruits and the cells that make up the living tissue of plants, animals and humans.
However, a mandala can also be used as a way of exploring and describing our own personal universe or being, and the way in which we experience it.
In this workshop the children will learn how to create a mandala of their own, that reflects both their ideas of the world around them, and also that reflects their ideas about who they are and what they may become.
The workshop is limited to a maximum 10 children, so please book early to reserve your child’s place.
