PMS & You Workshop


Pre-Menstrual Stress is a real problem that every woman face every month for most of their lives. 

If it is not a physical discomfort, it is an emotional one. If it is not at the expense of one's relationships with one's spouse/partner/children/parents, it is at the expense of one's relationship with one's colleagues/friends. If it is not over eating, it is the worry that one may be anaemic.

A few years ago, a woman in the USA stabbed her boyfriend to death because of PMS. She was acquitted because PMS was her defense. This show that PMS is a physical/psychological issue that is being recognized, though I do not necessarily agree that she is not responsible for her actions while PMSing!

In this workshop, we will be exploring some important key points which will help you to understand yourself and your relationship with your monthly cycle. You do not have to struggle with it just because your mothers or your mothers' mothers did. The aim of this workshop is to empower you.

We will be discussing:

1. What is PMS?

2. Why does it affect us in different ways?

3. Some tips on dealing with the physical discomfort

4. Practical, tried and tested life skills on how to master the emotional imbalances and upheavals during PMS

5. How partners/spouses/friends can play a more supportive role during PMS. And the tools they can use to support you.

The workshop will cover discussions, personal reflection time, group work as well as some fun and games.

Please note that this is not a workshop based on medical fact. This workshop is based on Shamala's personal experiences and the wisdom gained through counseling thousands of women in the past 10 years.
